How long is a session?
The initial consultation is 90 minutes. Subsequent sessions will be either 55/90 minutes in duration.
How often do I need to come to therapy?
Initially, weekly sessions are recommended until your symptoms start to improve. Once you start feeling an improvement, subsequent sessions can start to be extended. When you feel ready to end therapy, we can plan some follow-up appointments to help you maintain the progress you have made.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions you will need will be tailored to you and your particular reasons for seeking treatment.
The focus of the therapy process is to help you get to a point when you are confident and continue improving and making changes on your own. This generally starts to happen after 6 to 8 sessions or depending on the complexity of your problem.
It's difficult to determine the amount of sessions you will need as this depends on your presenting/past experiences.
How will the sessions be conducted?
The sessions will be conducted either through Zoom or in person in my clinic in Chippenham.
Why will homework be set at each session?
Engaging in therapy in a way is like learning a new skill, it takes repetition and practice. Therefore, the ongoing work between sessions will help you to integrate the work we do in each the session.
I often given the example of when you are learning something new, it takes time, repetition, and lots of practice. The more focussed and motivated you are on wanting change, the less sessions you will need.
Is CBT/EMDR/IFS the right therapy for me?
Generally speaking, CBT/EMDR/IFS is very beneficial for people who have become stuck with an issue or a problem that they have had for some time but struggle to resolve on their own (for example anxiety, depression, self-esteem, trauma, anger issues, to name a few). Within the therapy session there is often an integration of different modalities because everybody is different, so developing a person centred approach adapts to your specific needs.

Subsequent sessions - 55 or 90 minutes- £60/ £75
